Used 2020 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearSaskatoon, SK

How much does the 2020 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 8.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 141 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for this model year.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.85/5, and the expert rating is 6.83/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its ruggedness, reliability, and value retention, and they also highlight its comfort, safety features, and off-road capability. The 4Runner’s purpose-built character suits you best if you want durability and real utility more than everyday polish.

The trade-offs are clear: it is not especially strong on value for money, and its fuel economy is poor. Even so, the market shows 41.1% of listings as good or great deals, which helps offset some of the ownership compromise.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to ruggedness, reliability, and durability, with many drivers saying they can count on it over the long term. The expert assessment also describes the engine’s longevity as a testament to its reliability, reinforcing the 4Runner’s reputation for dependable ownership.

Toyota Safety Sense P adds a layer of confidence, and the 4Runner’s standard safety equipment supports everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age and hard use can magnify wear on a vehicle built for tougher conditions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is based on the SR5, with packages including TRD Off-Road, Venture, TRD Pro, Limited, and Nightshade. Lower trims come with cloth, while the Limited adds leather upholstery and a more comfort-focused feel.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 4-litre V6 with a five-speed automatic. It is tuned for durability and towing rather than smoothness or efficiency, and fuel consumption is poor.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. All versions also have eight standard airbags.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Bluetooth is included, and some packages add a JBL stereo and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel consumption at 14.8 L/100 km in the city, 12.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 13.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 5 trim levels: SR5, TRD Off-Road, Venture, TRD Pro, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the starting point, and it gives you the core 4Runner experience without the extra cost of the more specialised packages. It makes sense if you want the rugged basics and plan to keep the budget in check.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the better fit if you want more off-road focus without jumping to the priciest versions. It is the trim to target if capability matters more than luxury.
• Venture: This package adds a stealthier look, 17-inch TRD wheels, roof rack crossbars, and side steps. It suits you if you want off-road style and useful hardware in one step.
• TRD Pro: This is the most serious off-road-oriented choice in the lineup, with the strongest adventure-first positioning. It is the one to choose if you want the most capable and most specialised 4Runner.
• Limited: This is the best-value pick if you want the most comfort-oriented 4Runner, with leather upholstery and a more upscale presentation. It is the right choice if you care more about daily comfort than trail hardware.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, so you do not need to move up the lineup just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota 4Runner?

It is a favourable time to shop if you want a buyer-friendly market with some room to negotiate.

• Deal availability: 41.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 141 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $42,500 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $43,398 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,344 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the 4Runner more approachable for you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means there is less immediate pricing momentum than there was a year ago, so holding value will depend more on condition, mileage, and trim appeal.

Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction helps support demand. If you keep it well maintained, its rugged image should continue to work in your favour when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2020 Toyota 4Runner earns Good scores from IIHS in all crash tests except the small overlap front: driver-side test, where it scored Marginal. It also earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with three-star ratings in the rollover test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. The 4Runner also comes with eight standard airbags.

The main caveat is the Marginal IIHS result in the small overlap front: driver-side test, which is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 41.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds Toyota Safety Sense P and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $47,187 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $43,398 CAD average.
• It keeps the same rugged, utility-first appeal while leaning even more into reliability and resale value.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the better path for buyers who want the same core formula with a slightly fresher market position.
