Is the 2017 Subaru WRX reliable?

The owner feedback suggests you can count on the WRX for dependable fun, especially if you value its all-wheel drive system and driving enjoyment over comfort-first priorities. The recurring praise for its performance and traction points to a car that many owners feel good about keeping for the long term. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the core appeal and more about whether the previous owner maintained it carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 100 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,168 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $16,236 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,643 CAD.

That price movement suggests the WRX has softened enough to be more approachable for buyers today, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less room for appreciation in the short term, though the model's enthusiast appeal can help support demand. Strong owner satisfaction can also help keep interest steady when you decide to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 WRX is a strong pick if you want the core formula of performance, all-wheel drive, and everyday usability at a more approachable price. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is a sensible target when you want the balance of value and enthusiast appeal.
