Used 2020 Subaru WRX for Sale near British Columbia

How much does the 2020 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 12.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 84 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru WRX earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the turbo power, handling, and comfort, especially for daily driving. The WRX also stands out for its manual transmission option and standard all-wheel drive, which fit its enthusiast-focused character while still giving you all-weather confidence. In practical terms, that makes it a strong fit if you want a performance car that can still handle commuting and year-round use.

The main trade-offs are outdated technology and some interior quality concerns, and tyre noise can be noticeable at higher speeds. Even so, 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent amount of value-oriented inventory to consider.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in everyday use, with strong enthusiasm around its performance and daily-driver comfort. The expert assessment also highlights the WRX’s solid mechanical character and its ability to deliver consistent driving enjoyment without feeling fragile or overly complicated. Subaru’s standard all-wheel-drive setup adds to the sense that this is a car you can count on in changing weather.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about wear from spirited use, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim gives you the essentials, including a 6.5-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, automatic climate control, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while higher trims add features such as leather upholstery, larger wheels, a bigger touchscreen, Brembo brakes, Recaro front seats, and upgraded audio. The base model is the most stripped-back, so you should compare it carefully against the better-equipped trims if you want more comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a turbocharged and intercooled 2.0-litre boxer-four with 268 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with standard symmetrical all-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission; a CVT is also available. The manual is the enthusiast choice, while the CVT adds drive modes and simulated manual-shift control.
• Safety package: EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. On this model, EyeSight is optional rather than standard, so you should confirm whether a used example has it.
• Infotainment: The WRX comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen, with a 7-inch screen available on higher trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the system is described as easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The manual-equipped WRX returns 11.3 L/100 km in the city, 8.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.1 L/100 km combined. The CVT version returns 12.9 L/100 km city, 9.7 L/100 km highway, and 11.5 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru WRX is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Sport, Sport-tech, and Sport-tech RS.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the WRX experience at the lowest entry point. You still get the manual transmission, all-wheel drive, heated front seats, and the core infotainment setup with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but you give up the extra comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the CVT option, a 10-way power driver’s seat, lighting upgrades, a trunk lip spoiler, and EyeSight. If you want a more complete daily-driver package without jumping too far in price, this is the trim to focus on.
• Sport-tech: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more premium-feeling WRX, thanks to 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and the larger 7-inch touchscreen. It suits you if you want more comfort and a nicer cabin without moving into the most expensive version.
• Sport-tech RS: This is the most performance-flavoured WRX trim, with Brembo brakes, Recaro front seats, push-button start, and a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. It makes sense if you want the most aggressive factory setup and are willing to pay for it.

EyeSight is optional on the WRX, so make sure you verify whether a used example has the driver-assistance suite you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru WRX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 84 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.40% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,945 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $21,945 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,053 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you're buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. The current year-round range suggests there is still room for values to move around depending on trim, condition, and equipment. If you buy well and keep the car in strong shape, you should be better positioned when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2020 Subaru WRX earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The WRX comes standard with a full array of front- and side-impact airbags, traction control, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system. EyeSight is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking are also available.

One thing to watch is that EyeSight is optional on the WRX rather than standard, so you should confirm whether a used example has the safety equipment you want.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model stands out for its standard all-wheel drive, manual transmission availability, and strong expert scores across performance, technology, and safety.

The bottom line: If you want the WRX at a softer price point, the 2020 model is a compelling buy because it still delivers the core formula that makes the nameplate appealing. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the current market softness to shop carefully and focus on well-equipped examples with the features you want.
