How much does the 2020 Subaru Forester cost?

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Forester earns a 4.83/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its safety features, smooth driving experience, and interior design, and many say it offers strong value compared with rivals like the Nissan Rogue and CR-V. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a practical compact SUV that prioritises safety, all-weather traction, and everyday usability. With 37.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable and trouble-free for everyday use, with many drivers saying they feel confident in it over the long term. That kind of satisfaction matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for commuting, family duties, and poor-weather driving. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re comparing listings.

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 200 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,539 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $22,539 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,655 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price, you reduce the risk of being upside down later. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell, especially for shoppers who value safety and practicality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact SUV that leans into safety, all-weather confidence, and everyday practicality, the 2020 Forester is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you can also compare nearby years for the best individual listing, but the 2020 remains a strong pick when you want a well-liked, easy-to-live-with SUV.
