Used 2020 Mazda CX-5 for Sale nearLaval, QC

How much does the 2020 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 11.45% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 420 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable interior, smooth and quiet ride, and ample highway power. They also value the safety features and the more luxurious feel, which fits the CX-5’s upscale positioning.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and rear legroom, along with some wish for more engine power. That matters most if you want a compact SUV that prioritizes family practicality over polish.

For you, the CX-5 makes the most sense if you want a refined compact SUV that feels more premium than mainstream rivals. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, comfortable, and easy to live with over time. That kind of response usually matters more than a single feature list because it reflects how the CX-5 holds up in everyday use.

The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing Mazda’s design, engineering, and quality as a cut above mainstream competitors. Mazda’s premium positioning is backed by substance rather than just styling.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about durability and more about whether the CX-5’s space and technology meet your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX starts with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, HD Radio, text messaging support, integrated internet radio apps, E911 emergency notification, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Higher trims add more premium touches, with Signature bringing a surround-view camera system and a more luxurious cabin. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on features if you want a more upscale experience.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque in GX, GS, and GT trims. GT Turbo and Signature use a turbocharged version that makes 250 hp and 320 lb-ft on premium fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on regular fuel. The turbo model is stronger, but it is less efficient.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes smart city brake support, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. GS adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers are standard, while adaptive headlights come with Grand Touring trim.
• Infotainment: GX uses a 7-inch touchscreen that only responds to touch when the vehicle is not moving. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and GT Turbo adds a colour 8-inch touchscreen. The system can feel awkward to use, so you should test it carefully.
• Fuel efficiency: The naturally aspirated engine is rated at 9.3 L/100 km combined with AWD and 8.8 L/100 km combined with FWD. The turbocharged version is rated at 9.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, GT Turbo, and Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a 7-inch touchscreen, and the core safety suite. It suits you if you want the lowest-cost way into the CX-5 without giving up the essentials.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. If you want the strongest mix of price and safety equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• GT: This trim adds SiriusXM satellite radio, a five-year subscription to traffic, weather, news, sports, and more, plus a 10-speaker Bose premium sound system and on-board navigation. It makes sense if you want a more premium daily driver without jumping to the turbo models.
• GT Turbo: This is the choice if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and the added colour 8-inch touchscreen. It suits you if performance matters more than fuel efficiency.
• Signature: This is the most luxurious version, with premium Nappa leather upholstery, real wood, a black headliner, and a surround-view camera system. It is the right pick if you want the most upscale CX-5 experience.

The safety package starts with the standard ADAS suite on lower trims, while GS adds several key driver-assistance features and Grand Touring adds adaptive headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.45% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,958 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $22,970 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,939 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. A lower entry price today can help support demand, especially for shoppers comparing multiple compact SUVs.

The CX-5’s premium feel and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain appealing to used buyers. Still, resale value will depend on how well the market continues to reward its mix of style, safety, and refinement.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2020 Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance package includes smart city brake support, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. GS adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist.

You also get standard LED headlights and rain-sensing wipers, while adaptive headlights are reserved for Grand Touring trim. That means the safety equipment is strong overall, but some of the more advanced features are not standard on the base trim.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines premium styling, strong safety, and a more upscale feel than many compact SUVs.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,339 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,970 CAD average.
• It brings enhanced technology and a new Kuro Edition for Canadian buyers.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is available. If you are willing to pay more for updated tech, the 2021 is the better path.
