How much does the 2020 Kia Soul cost?

Prices have softened 15.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 167 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Kia Soul earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, stylish design, and easy-to-use technology, and they also like the value proposition and fuel mileage. The trade-offs are familiar: some drivers want more power, and a few comfort quirks come up in ownership feedback.

That fits the Soul’s role well, since it’s aimed at shoppers who want small-car efficiency with SUV-like utility and a distinctive shape. With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to find a strong-value example.

Is the 2020 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comments that it feels like a car you can count on over time. The expert evaluation also describes the Soul as refined and relatively quiet under acceleration, which supports the impression of a well-sorted daily driver.

The cost-effectiveness notes also highlight that the Soul delivers useful space and efficiency without forcing you into a larger vehicle. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the basic package and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly and checked carefully for wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Kia Soul?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is pretty basic, with 16-inch steel wheels, manual front-seat adjustments, one USB input, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry, and power windows, but it does include heated front seats, body-colour heated side mirrors, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX adds alloy wheels and a heated steering wheel, while the EX Premium and higher trims bring larger screens and more comfort and convenience equipment. The EX trim is the best-value choice if you want the strongest mix of equipment and price.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT. It delivers decent acceleration, feels refined, and remains relatively quiet under load.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, traction control, hill-start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The EX adds forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-path detection. The EX Limited and GT-Line Limited add adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and pedestrian detection.
• Infotainment: The LX, EX, and EX+ use a 7-inch screen, while higher trims get a 10.25-inch display. All trims include Kia’s UVO system, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, and the larger screen is a major upgrade if your budget allows it.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre engine and CVT return fuel consumption of 8.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 7.1 on the highway, and 7.9 combined. In mixed driving, the expert test recorded 8.0 L/100 km.

Which 2020 Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2020 Kia Soul is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, EX+, EX Premium, EX Limited, GT-Line Premium, and GT-Line Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the Soul, and it already gives you heated front seats, heated side mirrors, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the Soul’s space and personality without stretching the budget.
• EX: This is the trim CarGurus recommends, and it’s the best-value choice because it adds alloy wheels, a heated steering wheel, and the key driver-assistance features that the base trim lacks. If you want the smartest balance of price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• EX+: This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, and cloth-and-synthetic-leather seats, so it suits you if you want a more polished look and feel.
• EX Premium: This version brings 18-inch wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, and the larger 10.25-inch infotainment system, making it a strong pick if convenience and tech matter most.
• EX Limited: This is the most comfort- and safety-focused trim, with rain-sensing wipers, advanced forward collision avoidance assist, a head-up display, Harman Kardon audio, adaptive cruise control, leather seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and heated outboard rear seats.
• GT-Line Premium: This trim builds on EX Premium with sport bumpers and side sill accents, roof rails, and a sport steering wheel, so it suits you if you want a more aggressive appearance.
• GT-Line Limited: This is the top trim and adds the GT-Line styling on top of the EX Limited equipment set.

The safety-package step-up starts at the EX trim, so if driver assistance matters to you, that’s the trim to prioritise.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Kia Soul?

It looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 167 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.34% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,875 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $15,138 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,882 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Soul has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to attract interest when you eventually sell. A lower entry price today can also help you avoid overpaying relative to the market.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the model’s strong value reputation and practical appeal continue to hold up. If demand stays steady for roomy, efficient, easy-to-use hatchbacks, that should help support resale performance.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Kia Soul safe?

The 2020 Kia Soul is a Top Safety Pick and earns a four-star safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, traction control, hill-start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The EX trim adds forward-collision warning and avoidance, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, and rear cross-path detection. The EX Limited and GT-Line Limited add adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, and pedestrian detection for the forward-collision warning and avoidance system.

One important caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard on the base trim, so you need to move up the lineup if you want the fuller driver-assistance package.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model stands out for its refined driving dynamics, lower starting price than many rivals, and form-and-function balance.

The bottom line: If you want the Soul’s distinctive design, roomy cabin, and strong value in a year with softer pricing, the 2020 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the current market gives you enough inventory to shop carefully and focus on the best-equipped EX examples.
