CarGurus Analysis: 2020 Jeep Cherokee
Summary
With 101 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,349 CAD, 24.8% of 2020 Jeep Cherokee listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Jeep Cherokee 4.77 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee stands out because it blends Jeep’s familiar all-weather capability with a more crossover-like shape and a broad spread of equipment. By this point in the third generation, the Cherokee had already moved far from the boxy, old-school Jeep formula, but it still offered the kind of traction-focused hardware that helped it appeal to buyers who wanted some adventure without giving up everyday usability. The 2020 model also brought new wheels and colours across various trims, including Sangria and Spitfire Orange, and Alexa was added to Uconnect 8.4 systems with navigation.
It also remained a practical choice in the lineup. The 2020 Cherokee offered a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque alongside the V6, and cargo space had already increased to 764 litres in the refreshed generation. Buyers could also appreciate the available technology and convenience features, while the user feedback points to a comfortable ride and a well-equipped interior. At the same time, some owners noted a lack of power for quick acceleration and disliked the auto-stop function, which fits with the Cherokee’s mixed reputation for refinement versus outright urgency.

This is a great vehicle. It has every feature that I asked for & more. It will have no issue towing my camper or hauling my kayaks.

I am.... impressed with the 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Specifically, the non-elite version has less fluff and is less likely to need repair amongst the electronics (no panorama roof, no rear tailgate motor, no advanced controls such as advanced cruise control, no heated seats or heated steering wheel & no NAV - etc. It does what it is supposed to do. I am also averaging 28 mpg versus the listed 24 mpg. I also added Falken Wildpeak ATW/3 tires to it (which makes it a better off road vehicle) also. Im pleased as punch with this Cherokee. Its a shame that Stellantis (Chrysler/Jeeps parent company) did not support this line of vehicles for the past 2 years & shut down the Belvidere plant (20 miles away from me) last month. There is zero reason why Stellantis cannot make money on this line of vehicles.

The vehicle is very capable on and off road. Plenty of power to get up to speed on the highway, pass someone, and 4500lb towing capacity. Also it is the only trailhawk in the lineup to have a true rear locker.

The only thing I dont like about the 2020 jeep Cherokee is the power. It lacks the take off power I prefer. But other than that its a beautiful vehicle rides smoothly and is comfortable.

With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you may also find some attractive options while you shop.
Is the 2020 Jeep Cherokee reliable?
Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback highlights a comfortable ride and a well-equipped cabin, and many owners describe the vehicle positively over time. The same feedback also points to a generally dependable ownership experience for shoppers who want a used SUV they can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is finding a vehicle that has been maintained consistently, since any SUV with mixed owner feedback deserves a careful inspection before you commit.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Cherokee?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re comparing listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 502 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.73% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $21,268 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?
The current average of $21,407 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,104 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Cherokee has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they would have a year ago. If you buy at the right price now, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The current inventory and deal mix also suggest buyers have enough choice to be selective, which can keep resale pressure in check.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.73% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2020 Jeep Cherokee makes the most sense if you want a used SUV with strong owner approval, a comfortable ride, and enough inventory to compare prices carefully. If your priority is value, this is a good year to target because prices have eased and there are still plenty of listings to shop. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye out for listings near the low end of the range and be ready to move quickly when you find one.
