• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 105 listings available.

The current average of $18,838 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,580 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than owners saw a year ago. If you buy at today's average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped. Strong value and broad appeal can help keep demand steady, especially for shoppers looking for a well-equipped midsize sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,833 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $18,838 CAD average.
• It adds a performance-focused N Line option.

The bottom line:
The 2020 is the better all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and market choice. If you are shopping mainly on price and want a slightly newer alternative, the 2021 is worth a look, especially if its added performance focus matters to you.
