What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Sonata?

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Every 2025 Sonata has standard advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS), including forward collision warning with intersection assist, pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: All models have a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and the N Line also has a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel.

Which Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata offers these trims:

• Preferred-Trend: This is the value-focused choice, with the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluelink connected services, and the standard ADAS suite. It suits you if you want the most complete everyday package without moving into the sportier model.
• N Line: This trim adds the turbocharged 2.5-litre engine, 290 hp, 311 pound-feet of torque, a dual-clutch automatic transmission, 19-inch wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, navigation, wireless smartphone charging, digital key technology, and an 8-speaker Bose premium sound system. It is the pick for you if you want the most performance and the richest feature set.

What Hyundai Sonata do most buyers choose?

The Hyundai Sonata years with the most listings are 2016, 2024, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more choice, broader price coverage, and a better chance of finding the right trim and condition. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible pricing.

What is the Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

Most Sonata model years are down year over year, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while the older models show smaller changes and therefore more stable pricing.

The 2015, 2017, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
