Used 2020 Honda CR-V for Sale nearSaint John, NB

How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 10.64% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 709 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda CR-V earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, excellent features, and strong performance, and they also highlight the advanced technology and safety equipment for the price. The CR-V’s broad appeal comes through in its comfortable, practical character and its reputation for satisfying owners. The main trade-offs are its dated technology and interior materials that can feel cheap.

For you, that means the CR-V makes the most sense if you want a well-rounded compact SUV that prioritises everyday usefulness over flash. It remains a strong fit for shoppers who value comfort, space, and efficiency in a familiar package. There are 28.6% good or great deals in the market, which is a decent sign of availability for value-minded buyers.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with owners repeatedly praising the CR-V’s spaciousness, strong performance, and overall satisfaction with the purchase. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the CR-V as a long-running, well-sorted crossover that has had its wrinkles smoothed out over time.

Honda’s 1.5-litre turbocharged engine is presented as a well-matched powertrain, and the transmission is described as doing a credible imitation of a conventional automatic. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about core dependability and more about whether you can live with the dated tech and lower-grade interior materials.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the entry point and comes with fabric seating, while higher trims add leather, larger wheels, moonroof equipment, and more upscale touches. The base trim also misses some features that appear higher up the range, so you should compare equipment carefully before settling on the cheapest example.
• Powertrain: Every grade uses Honda’s 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with 190 horsepower and a CVT. It is tuned for smooth, efficient everyday driving rather than excitement, and the CR-V’s light weight helps it feel responsive.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation, plus adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring starts on Sport trims, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is reserved for Touring and Black Edition.
• Infotainment: The standard 7-inch touchscreen includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring and Black Edition add navigation and a wireless phone charger, but the system itself is dated and can be cumbersome to use.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 7.7 L/100 km combined, while AWD models are rated at 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the CR-V, but it is also the most basic. You get the core CR-V strengths, yet you give up several comfort and convenience upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim. It adds 19-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, blind-spot display, a moonroof, and a 12-way power driver’s seat, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• EX-L: This trim mainly adds leather upholstery, plus heated rear outboard seats, wood-look inserts, and SiriusXM satellite radio capability. It is a sensible step up if you want a more upscale cabin.
• Touring: This trim adds a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, panoramic moonroof, upgraded blind-spot monitoring, and navigation, but the value jump is less compelling than Sport or EX-L.
• Black Edition: This is the most feature-rich version, with the same core Touring upgrades plus cosmetic enhancements and LED headlights. It suits you best if you want the top trim and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package starts with Honda Sensing on every trim, but blind-spot monitoring begins on Sport and rear cross-traffic monitoring is limited to Touring and Black Edition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you know what trim and price you want.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 709 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.64% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,227 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,240 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,246 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices continue to ease. A model that has already moved down from its prior average can be harder to position at a premium unless it is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. Even so, the CR-V’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in the frontal crash and side crash tests and a four-star rating in the rollover test. The CR-V also earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS, with caveats for trims below Touring.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is limited to Sport trims and above, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is reserved for Touring and Black Edition.

The main safety caveat is that lower trims use halogen headlights that scored only Marginal in IIHS testing. Touring and Black Edition improve that with LED headlights, which are the better choice if nighttime visibility matters to you.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year brings engine and safety upgrades that improve fuel efficiency and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $22,365 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $25,240 CAD average.
• It is a refined, roomy, and historically reliable compact SUV.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,870 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,240 CAD average.
• It is a broadly appealing, proven compact SUV with strong owner praise for comfort and safety.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right pick if you want the updated powertrain and safety improvements without moving up to a newer, pricier year. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want to stay closer to the next model year, the 2021 is the natural alternative.
