Used 2020 Honda CR-V for Sale nearHalifax, NS

How much does the 2020 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 11.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 723 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for you to compare trims and prices.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 user-rated SUV with an expert score of 7.5/10. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, excellent features, and strong performance, and they also highlight its advanced technology and safety features at a fair price. The main trade-offs are that some owners want more equipment such as parking sensors and built-in navigation, and a few feel it is overpriced.

That lines up with the overview: you get a comfortable, capable compact SUV with broad mainstream appeal, strong handling, and fuel-efficient day-to-day use. The downside is that its technology is dated and the interior materials can feel cheap.

With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive example.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the vehicle’s long-term appeal and the confidence it inspires over time.

Honda’s powertrain tuning is described as well matched, and the transmission is said to do a credible imitation of a conventional automatic well enough that most drivers will not notice the difference. That supports the impression of an easy-to-live-with SUV rather than one that asks for constant attention.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a few examples may need careful checking for recall completion and wear-related issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX is the entry point, but it misses some of the nicer touches found higher up, while the Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition add progressively more comfort and convenience. The Touring and Black Edition stand out for their LED headlights, which improve nighttime visibility, while lower trims use halogen headlights.
• Powertrain: Every grade uses Honda’s 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and a CVT. It is tuned for smooth, efficient everyday driving rather than outright speed, and it feels quick once moving.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring starts on Sport trims, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is reserved for Touring and Black Edition.
• Infotainment: You get a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and no OTA capability is mentioned. The system is dated and can take multiple taps to use, so it is worth testing before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 7.7 L/100 km combined, while AWD models are rated at 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the least expensive way into the CR-V, but it is also the most basic. It makes sense only if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable giving up some of the nicer convenience and appearance upgrades found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a strong mix of equipment, including 19-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel, blind-spot display, a moonroof, and a 12-way power driver’s seat. It is the trim that most clearly improves the day-to-day experience without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• EX-L: This trim is the comfort-focused step up, adding leather upholstery, heated rear outboard seats, wood-look inserts, and SiriusXM satellite radio capability. It is a good fit if you want a more upscale cabin without going all the way to the top trims.
• Touring: This trim adds more convenience and premium touches, including a wireless phone charger, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic moonroof, upgraded blind-spot monitoring, and navigation. It is the right choice if you want the most complete CR-V experience.
• Black Edition: This is the most fully loaded version, with the same core Touring equipment plus cosmetic enhancements and the most premium presentation. It suits you best if you want the top trim and do not mind paying for it.

The Touring and Black Edition are the only trims with LED headlights, which is an important safety-package note.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 723 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,079 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,108 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,223 CAD.

That softer pricing trend can work in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited if prices stay under pressure. For a seller, the current market suggests you may need to price competitively to move the vehicle quickly. The good news is that the CR-V’s broad appeal and strong reputation should help support demand over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2020 Honda CR-V earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in the frontal crash test and side crash test, and a four-star rating in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety also awarded it a Top Safety Pick designation, with caveats for trims below Touring.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane departure warning and road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is limited to Sport trims and above, while rear cross-traffic monitoring is limited to Touring and Black Edition.

The main caveat is that halogen headlights on trims below Touring scored only Marginal in IIHS testing, so the lighting setup matters if safety is a priority.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model year brought engine and safety upgrades that improved fuel efficiency and value.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $22,251 CAD, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $25,108 CAD average.
• It is a refined, roomy choice with a reputation for historical reliability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,680 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,108 CAD average.
• It remains broadly popular and easy to understand, with strong owner praise for safety and space.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the sweet spot if you want the updated drivetrain and safety improvements without paying more for the next year. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value play; if you want to spend a bit more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2021 is the natural step up.
