Owners repeatedly praise the spacious interior, advanced technology, and strong performance, and many also like the smooth ride and the range of configurations available. Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

The owner feedback also highlights dependable ownership traits, with praise for the truck’s strong performance and overall satisfaction over time. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but only if you verify maintenance carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 523 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,184 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $37,173 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,953 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current softness means your purchase price matters more than usual. A well-kept example bought near the lower end of the range should give you a better chance of protecting value over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.28/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.28/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,134 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $37,173 CAD average.
• It adds an optional carbon-fibre composite cargo bed.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and a broad mix of trims, engines, and features. Consider the 2021 if you are willing to pay more for a newer model with a few added touches, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2020 the smarter buy.
