How much does the 2020 GMC Canyon cost?

Is the 2020 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2020 GMC Canyon earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a midsize pickup that leans more upscale than many rivals. The overview points to a truck that balances city-friendly manoeuvrability with a practical alternative to a full-size pickup, while still offering a broad spread of trims for work, daily driving, or trail use. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a smaller truck with a more refined feel. 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the Canyon’s appeal comes from its upscale character and flexible trim range, but it also notes trade-offs in fuel economy and mixed crash-test results. For used buyers, that means reliability should be weighed alongside how the truck was used and maintained over time, especially if you are considering a more off-road-focused version.

What is the 2020 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $29,968 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,255 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has become a bit more accessible for buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For future sellers, it also means you may want to buy carefully now so you are not starting from an inflated price point later. The model’s upscale positioning and broad trim appeal can still support interest when it is time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,002 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,968 CAD average.
• It adds a refreshed look and an AT4 off-road-inspired trim.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and a more affordable entry into the Canyon lineup. If you are willing to pay more for updated styling and a more rugged trim choice, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
