Is the 2017 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The repeated mentions of dependable performance and a trouble-free ownership experience are encouraging if you plan to keep the truck for the long haul. For used buyers, the main risk is less about broad owner dissatisfaction and more about finding one that has been maintained properly over time.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding value if you compare carefully.
• Inventory: There are 67 listings available, so you have enough choice to be selective without feeling overwhelmed.

What is the 2017 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $23,150 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,580 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about what their truck can command. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the previous year's average. The Canyon's premium feel and broad appeal can help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want a midsize pickup with a more upscale feel, strong owner approval, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is the better pick when you want a balance of refinement, value, and buyer confidence.
