How much does the 2020 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 8.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2020 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2020 GMC Canyon earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal if you want a midsize pickup that feels more upscale than many rivals. The Canyon’s strengths are its more luxurious character, its practical size for city driving, and its broad range of trims that let you tailor it for work, daily use, or trail duty. That flexibility makes it a strong fit if you want a smaller truck without giving up refinement.

30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some market value to be found.

Is the 2020 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2020 Canyon’s reliability picture is shaped by its established second-generation design and its reputation for offering a refined driving experience. It also brings a practical mix of trims and equipment, which can help you find a version that suits your needs without stretching into a larger truck. At the same time, its mixed crash-test results and less-than-leading fuel economy are worth keeping in mind when you evaluate ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a more feature-rich or off-road-focused example may bring higher running costs and more wear from previous use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Canyon?

It looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 72 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,791 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $29,814 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,543 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays under pressure. If you plan to sell later, the Canyon’s current position suggests you should focus on buying well and keeping mileage and condition in check. A well-kept truck with the right trim and equipment should still appeal to shoppers who want a smaller, more upscale pickup.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,323 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,814 CAD average.
• It adds a refreshed look and an AT4 off-road-inspired trim.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the better value and a broader chance of finding a deal. If you care more about updated styling and a more rugged appearance, the 2021 is the better fit, but you’ll pay more for it.
