Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.48/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners most often praise its excellent fuel economy, smooth performance, and spacious interior, and those strengths line up well if you want a full-size pickup that can work hard while still offering a broad spread of configurations. Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels dependable in day-to-day use, with praise for smooth performance and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. That said, some buyers have flagged feature-content gaps and rear-camera visibility in low light, so reliability-minded shoppers should still inspect the truck carefully and verify that all equipment works as expected. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core truck and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,745 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,203 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed a meaningful amount of market depreciation, which can help future sellers if values stabilise from here. If you buy at the right price, you may have less downside left than a shopper who paid closer to the upper end of the range. The Silverado’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among buyers looking for a capable full-size pickup with lots of configuration choices.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.48/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.48/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,565 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $33,745 CAD average.
• It adds stronger market momentum and continued buyer appeal.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the better value play and are comfortable shopping carefully for the right truck. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year option, the 2021 is the secondary path to consider, but price-sensitive buyers should start with the 2020 and focus on condition, equipment, and deal quality.
