How much does the 2020 Acura TLX cost?

Prices have softened 10.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 69 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers.

Is the 2020 Acura TLX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura TLX earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, handling, overall features, and appealing exterior design, while also noting the powerful engine and the car’s long-term dependability. The expert review also points to multiple powertrain options and strong value for money, which fits a premium sport sedan aimed at drivers who want a more engaging drive. Trade-offs include poor ergonomic design and outdated technology, especially in the infotainment layout. With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2020 Acura TLX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner summary also points to a smooth ride, handling, and overall features that many drivers feel confident living with over time. The expert review describes the TLX as a car that can be easy to like and highlights its solid driving character, which supports the impression of dependable day-to-day use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its older technology and controls may age less gracefully than the rest of the car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura TLX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The A-Spec package adds 19-inch wheels, revised bumper designs, side sill skirts, and oversize round exhaust outlets, while the Technology Package is recommended for comfort, convenience, safety, and infotainment enhancements. The base car is more restrained in appearance and equipment.
• Powertrain: Front-wheel drive models use a 206-horsepower, 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, while SH-AWD versions add a 290-hp, 3.5-litre V6 and a nine-speed automatic. The V6 builds power smoothly and the SH-AWD system is a major part of the car’s engaging character.
• Safety package: Every TLX includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and road-departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included on all but the base TLX with no option packages.
• Infotainment: The TLX uses a dual-screen setup with a non-touch top display, a touchscreen lower display, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an optional navigation system. The layout is a known frustration point, so make sure you can live with it.
• Fuel efficiency: On the testing loop, the TLX returned 10.2 litres per 100 kilometres, and Natural Resources Canada says it should consume 10.3 L/100 km in combined driving for the tested configuration.

Which 2020 Acura TLX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura TLX is offered in 3 trim levels: base TLX, SH-AWD with Technology Package, and SH-AWD with Technology and A-Spec.

Here's the short version:

• base TLX: This is the entry point, but it misses the blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert that comes on higher trims. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting point and can live without the extra convenience and safety equipment.
• SH-AWD with Technology Package: This is the best-value choice because it adds the comfort, convenience, safety, and infotainment upgrades CarGurus recommends. It also gets you the more desirable SH-AWD powertrain, which is a big part of the TLX’s appeal.
• SH-AWD with Technology and A-Spec: Choose this if you want the sportiest look, with the A-Spec styling upgrades layered on top of the Technology Package and SH-AWD. It suits you best if appearance matters as much as the driving experience.

The safety package note to remember is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not included on the base TLX with no option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura TLX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 69 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,348 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura TLX's resale value?

The current average of $25,340 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,219 CAD.

That price decline suggests the TLX has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out. The upside is that a model with strong value positioning can still attract shoppers who want a premium sedan without paying top-tier luxury prices.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura TLX safe?

The 2020 Acura TLX doesn’t qualify for a Top Safety Pick due to an Acceptable rather than Good result in the small overlap frontal-impact test on the driver’s side. It earns five-star ratings in every test conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), including the rollover test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every TLX has adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and road-departure mitigation as standard equipment. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included on all but the base TLX with no option packages. The main caveat is that the driver-assistance systems can feel less smooth and refined than those in newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura TLX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its engaging SH-AWD driving character and strong value.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,659 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,340 CAD average.
• It moves to a new platform with a fresh exterior, interior, and powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and can live with the older tech, the 2020 is the smarter buy. If you’d rather pay more for a newer-generation design and a more distinct identity, the 2021 is the better path.
