Used 2020 Acura MDX for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2020 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 19.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 73 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Acura MDX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, safety features, and comfortable, family-friendly feel. The review summary also points to strong power and a solid overall package, while some shoppers note that the technology can feel behind the price and that third-row space can be tight.

That lines up with the MDX’s role as a three-row luxury crossover that prioritises practicality, comfort, and standard safety equipment over flashier styling or cutting-edge tech. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a proven family hauler with broad appeal rather than the most exciting or most modern luxury SUV in the segment.

With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with many drivers highlighting its comfort, safety, and solid day-to-day usability. That kind of repeat-positive feedback usually matters more than a single feature list when you are trying to judge whether a used SUV will be trouble-free over time.

The MDX’s performance notes also reinforce that sense of confidence, with a well-behaved transmission, strong straight-line response, and a chassis that feels composed and easy to drive. Acura also includes a strong maintenance value proposition in this model year, which can help reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the technology and third-row packaging still meet your needs as the vehicle ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Acura MDX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base MDX is nicely equipped, but it lacks the extra tech features that define the higher packages. If you want more convenience and luxury, the Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Technology Plus package, and Elite Package each add meaningful equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a naturally aspirated 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive standard in Canada. The MDX also offers a Sport Hybrid with a 3.0-litre V6 and three electric motors, but that is a separate powertrain path.
• Safety package: AcuraWatch is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is added with the Technology Package.
• Infotainment: The base setup includes an 8.0-inch upper screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an eight-speaker audio system. Higher packages add navigation, premium audio, and, at the top end, a rear entertainment screen.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada fuel consumption estimates for the SH-AWD model are 12.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Acura MDX is offered in 5 trim levels: MDX, Technology Package, A-Spec Package, Technology Plus package, Elite Package.

Here's the short version:

• MDX: This is the value play if you want the core MDX experience with standard advanced safety features, a strong equipment list, and the spacious cabin that defines the model. It is the best fit if you care more about practicality than extra luxury touches.
• Technology Package: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of features and value. It adds front and rear parking sensors, navigation, and upgraded audio, plus blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, making it the smartest step up for most used buyers.
• A-Spec Package: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and extra comfort features, including heated and ventilated front seats, 20-inch wheels, and Alcantara and leather seating surfaces. It is more about style and feel than pure value.
• Technology Plus package: This trim builds on the Technology Package with heated rear outboard seats, auto-leveling headlamps, and an upgraded 11-speaker audio system. It suits you if rear-seat comfort matters and you want a more upscale family SUV.
• Elite Package: This is the top-end choice if you want the most equipment, including an Active Damper System suspension, surround-view camera, and rear entertainment screen. It is the most feature-rich option, but not the most value-focused.

The Technology Package is the best-value trim for most shoppers, and the safety package expands as you move up the range.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 73 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,715 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $30,145 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,629 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if they plan to trade in or list privately. A softer market can compress resale values in the short term, especially when inventory is available and shoppers have choices.

Even so, the MDX’s broad appeal, standard safety equipment, and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Acura MDX safe?

The 2020 Acura MDX earns good ratings from IIHS across all crash-test categories and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

AcuraWatch is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the rearview camera is upgraded to a surround-view camera on the Advance Package.

The MDX also benefits from Acura’s ACE body structure, which is designed to manage crash energy away from occupants. On the downside, the IIHS notes only an acceptable result for headlights and acceptable ease of use for LATCH anchors, so those are worth keeping in mind if you are comparing trims or planning to install child seats regularly.

Should I buy a 2020 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model combines standard advanced safety features with a spacious three-row layout, while still offering competitive comfort, convenience, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want a proven three-row luxury SUV with strong safety equipment, broad owner approval, and a softer used-car price trend, the 2020 MDX is the right direction. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, you can still shop nearby years, but the 2020 stands out as the more compelling balance of value, safety, and family usefulness.

How does the 2020 Acura MDX compare to the 2020 Honda Pilot?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2020 Acura MDX:

• Pros: Standard advanced safety features, Spacious.
• Cons: Uninspired styling, Outdated technology.

2020 Honda Pilot:

• Pros: Powerful engine, Standard advanced safety features.
• Cons: Unintuitive technology, Interior materials feel cheap.

Our experts score the 2020 Acura MDX 7.2/10 and the 2020 Honda Pilot 8/10. The MDX leans more toward luxury and a more spacious-feeling premium cabin, while the Pilot brings a stronger value angle with a lower starting MSRP. Both offer standard advanced safety features, but the MDX’s outdated technology is a drawback if you want the more modern-feeling cabin. The Pilot’s powerful engine and lower price make it the more practical choice for many shoppers, while the MDX is the better pick if you want the Acura badge and a more upscale presentation.
