Is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 4.38/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. You’ll likely appreciate its spaciousness, good value, and performance features such as handling and fuel economy, especially if you want a compact SUV with more flexibility than a typical two-row model. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many people find dependable enough to live with day to day, with praise centred on its value and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some drivers mention issues with interior noise and certain missing features, so you should pay close attention to condition and equipment when shopping used. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that reported engine, electrical, and infotainment concerns could turn into higher repair exposure if the previous owner did not maintain the vehicle carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 490 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,632 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $17,710 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,365 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Tiguan more attractive to used buyers today but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 Tiguan makes the most sense if you want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2019 remains a strong choice when you prioritise space, comfort, and value.
