Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical family minivan with a strong reputation for safety, reliability, and versatility. It offers three rows of seating, plenty of room for passengers, and a cabin that can open up to a large cargo area with a low load floor when the second and third rows are removed. That flexibility is a major part of its appeal, and it helps explain why the Sienna has long been regarded as a dependable choice for family transportation.
For 2019, the Sienna was still part of the third generation, which brought a broad range of usable features and a more refined driving experience than many buyers expect from a minivan. It was available with a standard four-cylinder engine or an optional 3.5-litre V6, and the V6 was described as smooth and pleasant to drive. Toyota also added a direct fuel injection system to the V6 for the 2017 model year, bringing horsepower to 296, and a new eight-speed transmission was introduced to match the revised engine. The 2018 model year brought an updated front end, extra USB charging ports, and standard Toyota Safety Sense, which included automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.
There are a few drawbacks to keep in mind. The four-cylinder engine was described as underpowered for such a large vehicle, and the new eight-speed transmission could be problematic, particularly for the 2017 and 2018 model years. Power sliding doors can also cause headaches, with expensive repairs and a recall noted in the source. Even so, the 2019 Toyota Sienna remains appealing for buyers who want a spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped minivan with a strong safety focus and a long-standing reputation for dependability.

Love this van! It has all the features that we were looking for in a minivan that was also featured packed. Heated steering wheel and seats, Apple CarPlay, seat and mirror setting memory, Bluray Player, and the brown leather interior is beautiful!

The sienna SE drives like no other car i have driven. Powerful slick and huggs the road. It is an amazing car. The room in the back and luxury is top notch. So happy in one day. Noticed ny city is fighting for the new ev models. Rumours of $10 000 -20 000 over sticker competition. Happy to shave off plenty on new with low mileage. Get it if you can!

Is the 2019 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Toyota Sienna earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and spacious interior. The review summary also highlights reliability, good gas mileage, and a practical design that avoids unnecessary complexity. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a family minivan that prioritises everyday usability, passenger space, and straightforward ownership. With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of value-oriented inventory to consider.
Is the 2019 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The review summary specifically points to reliability, dependable performance, and a trouble-free ownership experience as recurring strengths. It also suggests that the Sienna’s straightforward design may appeal if you want something you can count on over the long term. For used buyers, the main risk is that age and mileage can still expose wear items, so a careful inspection matters even on a model with a strong reputation.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Sienna?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $25,839 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $30,775 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,923 CAD.
That softer pricing can work in your favour as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The year-round range shows there is still room for values to move depending on condition, mileage, and equipment. If you maintain the vehicle well and keep it in strong cosmetic and mechanical shape, you should be better positioned to protect value when it is time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $35,212 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $30,775 CAD average.
- It adds all-wheel drive as a standout capability.
The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and a strong ownership track record. If you are willing to pay more for the added all-wheel-drive advantage, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritise that feature.
