Why it stands out

The 2019 Subaru Legacy stands out as a midsize sedan that puts all-wheel drive at the centre of its appeal. Subaru’s standard AWD system remained across the lineup, and the model also offered a reputation for strong safety equipment and a comfortable, refined driving experience. For buyers shopping used, that combination makes it an uncommon choice among family sedans, especially if traction and all-weather confidence matter more than flash.

For this generation, the Legacy also brought a more advanced cabin and a broader spread of technology than earlier versions. The 2019 model year sat within the sixth generation, where Subaru’s EyeSight safety suite was more widely available, and the 2018 refresh had already added Apple CarPlay and Android Auto through the Subaru Starlink infotainment system. Standard equipment on the 2.5i included a 6.2-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming, USB and aux inputs, a backup camera, and 17-inch steel wheels, while Touring models added features such as a sunroof, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, fog lights, and a six-speaker stereo. That makes the 2019 Legacy appealing to buyers who want a practical sedan with useful everyday tech rather than a sporty personality.

There are trade-offs, though. The source describes the Legacy as having dull styling, a cheap-feeling interior, and sluggish performance, so it is not the most exciting option in its class. Even so, its standard AWD, broad safety availability, and relatively accessible used pricing help explain why it remains a sensible pick for shoppers who value security and comfort over drama.
