I absolutely enjoy every aspect of this car. It came exactly like I wanted it to and had features that I was not expecting. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase.

Reviewed a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu on Mar 1, 2026
I purchased a 2020 Chevy Malibu on February 14th, 2024. Since then, the vehicle has been plagued with issues. The check engine light is constantly on, and when a sensor fails, multiple problems seem to arise. For example, the first time the check engine light appeared, the dash dinged and displayed messages like “steering assist reduced, drive with care,” while all the gauges would jump around. It also showed “low fuel,” despite the tank being full, and the message “service ESC.” The root cause was the throttle body, which needed to be replaced. Subsequently, similar issues occurred, and different parts had to be replaced, including the mass airflow sensor, the accelerator pedal, the brake vacuum pump sensor, the brake vacuum pump, and components related to the charging system. At one point, there was a ground issue. Then there is the constant “shift into park” after parking the car. Overall, this car has been nothing but trouble, and I would not recommend it to anyone.

The car has more features than you think for the price. Heated seats, android and apple auto, a turbo. It's not the pinical of luxury, but it definitely gives you enough if you are on a budget.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu stands out as a roomy, value-focused midsize sedan that had already moved well beyond its earlier, less refined roots by this point. Its sleek styling and larger dimensions give it a more open-feeling back seat, while the cabin benefits from easy-to-use technology and a generally higher-quality feel than older Malibus. For shoppers who want a practical family car without paying the premium of some rivals, that combination is a big part of its appeal.
For 2019, Chevrolet revised the front and rear fascias and introduced the sporty Malibu RS trim. The new Infotainment 3 system also debuted on a standard eight-inch touchscreen, and the 1.5-litre turbocharged engine got a continuously variable transmission. The Malibu’s standard safety and driver-assistance equipment remained a mixed bag, but this model year still offered a decent array of available features such as lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and front and rear park assist.
There are trade-offs, though. Reviewers found the standard 1.5-litre turbo combination produced lacklustre acceleration, and the Malibu was not as refined as some key competitors. Even so, its strong value proposition, generous interior space, and broad feature set make the 2019 Chevrolet Malibu an appealing choice for buyers who prioritise comfort and affordability over driving excitement.
