Is the 2019 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many shoppers highlighting the CX-5’s overall value and confidence-inspiring day-to-day use. Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 328 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $21,152 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $21,367 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,174 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if prices stay soft. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you should focus on condition, service history, and trim desirability to protect value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $22,957 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $21,367 CAD average.
• It moves the CX-5 further into premium territory with a more upscale market position.

The bottom line: Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable with a slightly older model year that still scores very well with owners. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer-year alternative, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritise a more premium positioning over upfront savings.
