The owner feedback also suggests that many drivers find it dependable enough to enjoy over time, especially when they value the car’s unique character and driving feel. That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average. The model’s strong owner satisfaction can help support demand, especially among shoppers who want style and driving enjoyment in a compact package.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,121 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,507 CAD average.
• It adds an electric powertrain option for greener driving.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and are focused on the classic MINI formula of style and fun. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model with an electric option, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
