Is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, smooth ride, and wide range of features, while some wish for more power and a larger size. Is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also leans toward dependable day-to-day use, with comments highlighting a smooth, trouble-free driving experience and strong fuel economy over the long term. A few owners mention minor issues, such as a malfunctioning key fob, so you should still inspect any used example carefully. For a used buyer, the main long-term ownership risk is that small problems can add up if the car has not been maintained well.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 94 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.09% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,387 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $13,418 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,005 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less favourable if you plan to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current lower entry price may help limit further value loss compared with a vehicle that is still priced near its peak. The market also appears reasonably active, which can support future resale if your car is clean, well maintained, and priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want a value-focused midsize sedan with strong owner satisfaction and a lower current asking price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years for the best deal, but the 2019 is a sensible primary target when comfort, features, and affordability matter most.
