Is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, and smooth ride, and many also like the variety of features available. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, well-equipped midsize sedan that offers strong value for the money. With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have a meaningful chance to find a competitive example.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that many people find dependable in day-to-day use, with comments highlighting a trouble-free ownership experience for much of the time. A few owners mention minor issues, but the overall tone suggests the Sonata can be a solid long-term companion if you choose carefully.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about routine comfort and more about making sure the specific car has been well maintained and inspected before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 102 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,326 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $13,326 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,807 CAD.

That kind of decline suggests the Sonata is currently a buyer-friendly used car, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at today’s lower average, you may have less room for appreciation later unless market conditions improve. On the other hand, the model’s value-oriented reputation can help keep demand steady among shoppers looking for a comfortable, well-equipped sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better pick if you want a value-focused Sonata with strong owner approval and a softer used-car price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a similar car is available with a better equipment mix or a lower asking price.
