What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup includes a wide range of body styles and trims, and the base versions are more basic than the better-equipped models. The Touring stands out with LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier audio system, while the Sport trim adds extra exterior flair.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder makes 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, while the turbocharged 1.5-litre engine is quicker to respond and stronger in the mid-range. The CVT is described as impressive, and the manual transmission is praised for its clutch and shifter feel.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth. Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a highlight, and LaneWatch is available on certain trims.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 6 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, Sport, Touring, and Si.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the most affordable way into the Civic, but it is the most basic choice in the lineup, so it makes the most sense if your priority is keeping the purchase price down.
• LX: This is the sensible value pick if you want the Civic’s core strengths without stretching too far up the range.
• EX: This trim adds more equipment and sits in the middle of the lineup, making it a good fit if you want a more complete daily driver.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for shoppers who want extra style, including the centre-mounted exhaust and some of the performance-inspired visual cues from the Si.
• Touring: This is the most upscale non-performance choice, and it is the one to target if you want LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier audio system.
• Si: This is the enthusiast choice, with the turbocharged engine tuned to 205 hp and 192 lb-ft, plus a stick shift only.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 779 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,460 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $18,548 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,265 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic has become a bit easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help future resale buyers but may pressure sellers who are hoping for stronger returns. If you own one now, the current market indicates that demand is still healthy, but you should not expect a rapid appreciation story. The Civic’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and solid owner satisfaction should help it remain desirable, even if prices have eased.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

It includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The 2019 model itself has not been rated by IIHS, though it is identical to earlier model years.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Civic’s refined, value-focused formula with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,989 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,548 CAD average.
• It adds more standard safety and convenience features.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better pick if you want the lower average price and a proven formula that already works well. If you can stretch your budget, the 2020 is worth considering for its added standard features, but price-sensitive buyers should feel comfortable focusing on the 2019.
