Is the 2019 Ford Edge a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Ford Edge earns a 4.77/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, comfort, spacious interior, and strong power, which fits a midsize, two-row SUV that puts family usefulness first. Is the 2019 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its performance, comfort, features, spacious interior, and strong power. Ford’s test-drive notes also describe the non-ST engine as one that “gets the job done and won’t let you down,” which supports the impression that the Edge is built to be counted on. The available Co-Pilot360 safety suite and the model’s practical family focus add to its appeal for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the dated cabin and the occasional complaints about sluggish acceleration or missing features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Edge?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, and push-button start, while the SEL adds roof rails, heated front seats, rear parking sensors, and available heated steering wheel and sunroof. The Titanium adds 19-inch alloy wheels, leather upholstery, a wireless charging pad, remote start, and a Bang & Olufsen 12-speaker premium sound system. The ST adds blacked-out styling, 20-inch machined aluminium wheels, an upgraded exhaust system, leather seating, ambient lighting, and available dual-panel moonroof plus heated and cooled front seats and heated rear seats.
• Powertrain: Non-ST trims use a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. The ST uses a 2.7-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft of torque, also paired with an eight-speed automatic and AWD.
• Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+ with adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and a lane-centreing system.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 4.2-inch non-touchscreen with USB, WiFi hotspot, streaming music, Bluetooth, and voice recognition. An 8-inch Sync 3 system is available on the SEL and standard on the Titanium and ST, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The base two-litre with front-wheel drive uses 10.9 L/100 km in the city, 8.0 on the highway, and 9.6 combined. With AWD, it uses 11.4 city, 8.3 highway, and 10.0 combined. The ST uses 12.6 city, 9.2 highway, and 11.0 combined.

Which 2019 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2019 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the least expensive way into the Edge, but its 4.2-inch non-touchscreen infotainment setup feels basic. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the nicer cabin and tech upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim. It adds heated front seats, rear parking sensors, roof rails, and access to the 8-inch Sync 3 system, while still staying more affordable than the upper trims.
• Titanium: Choose this if you want a more upscale daily driver, with leather upholstery, remote start, a wireless charging pad, 19-inch wheels, and the premium sound system.
• ST: Pick this if you want the performance-focused Edge. It brings the 2.7-litre twin-turbo V6, AWD, sportier styling, and the most powerful driving experience in the lineup.

The SEL is the trim CarGurus recommends for most buyers, and it strikes the best balance between equipment, comfort, and price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Edge?

The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with some patience and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 424 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,436 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $17,665 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,160 CAD.

That drop suggests the Edge has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be good news if you are buying now. For a future seller, it also means there may be less room for dramatic price declines than there was a year ago, especially if the vehicle is well equipped and in good condition. The model’s broad family appeal and available performance trim should help keep it relevant with shoppers who want space, comfort, and a bit of extra character.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Ford Edge safe?

The 2019 Ford Edge earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s Co-Pilot360 suite is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, automatic high-beams, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Above the SE, you can add Co-Pilot360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control that can stop and go with traffic, evasive steering assist, and a lane-centreing system.

The main caveat is that IIHS notes lacklustre headlight performance, which is why the Edge lands at Top Safety Pick rather than the higher designation.

Should I buy a 2019 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends family space with an available ST performance trim.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,237 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,665 CAD average.
• It keeps the latest infotainment and safety tech while adding a more contemporary overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it already reflects a softer market and still delivers the Edge’s core strengths. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the better path for shoppers who want the freshest version of the same formula.
