By this point in the second generation, Chevrolet had given the truck a strong mix of powertrain choices, including a 3.6-litre V6 and an available 2.8-litre Duramax Diesel with 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. That diesel also brought class-leading towing capacity of 3,500 kilograms and highway fuel consumption as low as 9.4 litres per 100 kilometres, making the Colorado appealing to buyers who want real truck strength without moving up to a full-size pickup.
The 2019 model also offered a practical range of cab and bed configurations, plus useful features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the larger screen, a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot on later low-trim versions, and a two-level tailgate that helped with cargo flexibility. Higher trims added more serious hardware, with the Z71 bringing an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tyres, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging. At the top, the ZR2 added even more off-road equipment, including Multimatic DSSV damping, increased ground clearance and track width, and larger all-terrain tyres.
Its main drawback is reliability, especially in the second generation’s early years. Models built from 2014 to 2019, and even a few later ones, were known for recurring eight-speed automatic transmission problems, and early trucks could also have HVAC issues and some V6 complaints. Even so, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado remains attractive because it offers a good balance of performance and brawn, along with a broader feature set and more upscale feel than earlier versions.

This vehicle is a great value. It handles well and is sturdy and wellmade. I love the inside leather seats and all the controls and the amazing stereo, the backup camera plus the camera can view behind you when driving also which is helpful. I compared this to a Toyota Tacoma that I had for many years. Only two things which I would change - it does not have a CD player which is helpful when you go out of range when traveling and the compass is too small and not visible to anyone else other than the driver. The spot in the driver door for a drink is not usable for that. The seats sit high so would not recommend for anyone who is 510 or taller.
