This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.

What is the 2018 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $27,523 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,902 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Highlander more attractive to you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later. Strong demand for practical family SUVs can help support values, especially when the vehicle has a solid reputation with owners.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Highlander makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, practical, and well-liked midsize SUV and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a similar Highlander offers a better deal, but the 2018 remains a strong primary target for shoppers who value reliability and family-friendly usability.
