CarGurus Analysis: 2018 Dodge Charger

Summary
With 65 currently listed for sale and an average price of $17,494 CAD, 36.9% of 2018 Dodge Charger listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2018 Dodge Charger 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2018 Dodge Charger stands out as a large, rear-wheel-drive sedan with genuine muscle-car character, yet it still works as a practical family car. By this point in its life, the Charger had already evolved into a roomy, comfortable, and durable machine with a big trunk and plenty of personality. It was also available with all-wheel drive, and the buying guide notes that the modern Charger’s appeal comes from its combination of performance, interior space, and broad configuration choices.
For 2018 specifically, the Charger sat in the long-running LD generation, which had gained a major update in 2015 and then continued with gradual changes. The buying guide says Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were integrated with the UConnect infotainment system in 2017, and that the Charger SE was discontinued in 2018, leaving the SXT as the entry-level model. That means the 2018 car benefits from the later-generation infotainment setup while also reflecting the model’s shift toward a simpler trim structure. The same source also describes the Charger as easy to live with, docile around town, and family-friendly even in high-performance form.
There are trade-offs, though. The Charger’s pros include muscle-car style, powerful engines, available AWD, and expansive interior and trunk space, but its cons include a big appetite for fuel, a lack of the latest safety tech in most versions, and an overall feel that is old and dated. Owner feedback in the provided summary lines up with that picture: reviewers praise the sporty character, smooth ride, strong performance, stylish design, tech features, and spacious cabin, while also pointing to fuel consumption, some interior material quality concerns, and a few reliability complaints.

Love this car! I got this car at a good price and it’s my first mopar so I can’t compare. It is missing upgraded speakers and a sunroof but I can’t complain.

Absolutely love these line of vehicle! So versatile, and agile if i may say lol, Handles really well in the corners and the power is there if you need it. Dodge definitely outdid itself with this line of vehicles, sports wise as well as family ability! Hope to see more in the future or at least something along the same lines, being that they (Dodge) are converting more to EV’s now (Electric Vehicles). But time will tell!

I thought the car handles and rides nice. Peppy V6. But the fit and finish of the seats and the actual sheet metal were very sub par. I was looking to trade my 06 Suburban in on it. There is no comparison between the two. My 06 Suburban is built much better!

How much does the 2018 Dodge Charger cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,485 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $17,485 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $24,128 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $23,159 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −24.50% |
Prices have softened 24.50% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 68 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice if you're comparing condition, mileage, and trim.
Is the 2018 Dodge Charger a good car?
Yes — the 2018 Dodge Charger earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its sporty character, smooth ride, powerful performance, stylish design, tech features, and spacious interior. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, comfortable, and practical family sedan with muscle-car personality. With 29.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Dodge Charger reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free experience for many shoppers, with praise for the car’s durable feel and overall long-term appeal. At the same time, some reviewers mention reliability complaints, so you should pay close attention to service records and the condition of any used example you consider. For a used buyer, that means the car can make sense for long-term ownership, but a careful inspection matters.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Dodge Charger?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 68 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 24.50% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $17,485 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Dodge Charger's resale value?
The current average of $17,485 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,159 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range. The model’s broad appeal and practical layout should still support demand, especially among shoppers who want a distinctive sedan with space and personality.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Dodge Charger or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 24.50% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the Charger’s roomy cabin, muscle-car personality, and later-generation infotainment in a year with softer pricing. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge on the trunk.
