How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Passat cost?

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Passat a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Volkswagen Passat earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, fuel efficiency, and value for money, and many also call out the spacious interior and enjoyable driving experience. The low maintenance costs add to its appeal if you want a practical used sedan. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Passat reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, low maintenance costs, and a car that many drivers feel they can count on over time. That combination suggests the Passat can be a sensible used buy if you want something that should be straightforward to live with.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a car that has not been maintained consistently, so a careful inspection and service-history review still matter.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Volkswagen Passat?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options but still room to find a strong deal.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.93% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,212 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Passat's resale value?

The current average of $12,212 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,881 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a mixed signal for future resale. On one hand, it means you may have less room for appreciation if you buy today and sell soon. On the other hand, the current market may help you enter at a more favourable price point, which can improve your ownership value if you keep the car for several years.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Passat or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used Passat with strong owner satisfaction and a softer current price, the 2017 is a sensible place to start. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of price and condition.
