Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volkswagen Passat?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.33% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,385 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volkswagen Passat's resale value?

The current average of $11,385 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,290 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a mixed signal if you're thinking ahead to resale: it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point, but it also suggests the market has already adjusted downward. If you plan to sell later, your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volkswagen Passat or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want a used Passat with solid owner approval and a market that has moved in your favour. If you're price-sensitive, you should also compare nearby model years to see whether a slightly older or newer example gives you a better balance of price and availability.
