Is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 4.2/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Drivers consistently praise its reliability, great performance, and value, while also noting its upgraded features and resale value. In practical terms, that fits a truck aimed at you if you want a capable midsize pickup that can handle daily driving, work duties, and weekend use without stepping up to a full-size truck. Is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also points to a truck that feels reliable and trouble-free to many owners, with language that emphasises dependable ownership and confidence over the long term. That said, used buyers should still budget for a careful inspection, because any truck with this kind of demand can hide wear from harder use, especially if it has seen towing or off-road driving.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly when you find a strong one.

• Deal availability: 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,957 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $33,130 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,930 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour now, but it also suggests future sellers may not see the same immediate upside they would in a rising market. Even so, the Tacoma’s reputation for durability and strong buyer interest helps support demand when you eventually go to sell. If you buy well today, you may still be in a good position later because the model’s appeal tends to stay broad.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a Tacoma with strong owner approval, proven appeal, and a market that has eased a bit from last year, the 2017 is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever listing gives you the best condition and equipment for the money.
