Is the 2017 Subaru Impreza a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Subaru Impreza earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction for a compact car that prioritises standard all-wheel drive, everyday comfort, and useful technology. The overview also highlights a lower centre of gravity, improved chassis rigidity, and standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across all trims, which makes it appealing if you want a practical small car that feels secure in poor weather. The trade-offs are that performance is not the focus, interior materials can feel cheap, and cargo space is limited. Still, if those compromises fit your needs, it remains a sensible choice. 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile options in the market.

Is the 2017 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a model built around Subaru’s standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a comfortable ride, and a practical layout, all of which support confidence in everyday use. Its emphasis on durability-friendly basics rather than high-strung performance also fits the profile of a car that can be easier to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly, especially if you plan to keep it for many years.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Impreza?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value if you compare listings carefully.

What is the 2017 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $14,034 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,244 CAD.

That softer pricing can work in your favour if you buy now, but it also means future resale upside may be more limited unless the market tightens again. If you sell later, the Impreza’s value will likely depend on how well it holds appeal as a practical all-wheel-drive compact car with useful standard technology. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the version that brought the Impreza’s more modern platform, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the familiar Subaru all-wheel-drive formula together, the 2017 is the one to focus on. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 offers a strong balance of features and market value.
