Is the 2017 RAM 3500 a good car?

Is the 2017 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find dependable and well suited to long-term ownership, especially when you value its towing strength and comfortable character. That said, because it is a heavy-duty used truck, your long-term ownership risk will depend on how hard it was worked and how well it was maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 3500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 93 listings available.

If you find a listing below $37,425 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $42,909 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,918 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current softness means your return will depend more on condition, mileage, and maintenance history than on broad market momentum. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks can still support values, especially when the truck has been well cared for.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 RAM 3500 makes sense if you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval and a market that has become more favourable for buyers. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years as well, but the 2017 is a solid starting point when you want capability, comfort, and a better-than-last-year price environment.
