Is the 2017 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 4.62/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. You also get recurring praise for its comfort, luxury features, smooth ride, and value for money, which fits the RX’s role as a refined used luxury SUV for buyers who prioritise everyday ease over flashier performance. The overview also highlights its long-term dependability and strong resale value, making it especially appealing if you want a premium SUV that is easy to live with. With 30.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary reinforces that impression by pointing to the RX’s dependable nature, with owners repeatedly valuing its trouble-free ownership experience and long-term appeal. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on rather than one that demands constant attention.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying a premium for a vehicle that has held its value well, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus RX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right example.

• Deal availability: 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 95 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.37% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,839 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $29,839 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,881 CAD.

That suggests the RX has softened a bit in the near term, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the model’s reputation for comfort, reliability, and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain attractive to future shoppers. Because demand tends to stay steady for well-regarded luxury SUVs, a clean, well-maintained RX should still hold its appeal better than many rivals.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.37% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of comfort, refinement, and used-market value, the 2017 is a strong place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017’s combination of owner satisfaction and softer pricing makes it the primary year to target.
