Is the 2017 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 4.82/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the comfort, handling, and feature content, including the panoramic sunroof and safety technology. Many also highlight the Sportage’s good value and reliability compared with other brands, which fits well if you want a compact SUV that feels well equipped and comfortable for everyday use. With 27.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many shoppers saying they value its reliability compared with other brands. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you want a used SUV you can count on for daily driving.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained properly, since condition and service history matter more as the kilometres add up.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 217 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,609 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $12,609 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,329 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make future resale a little more challenging if values continue to soften. If you buy now, you may want to focus on a well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history so it stays attractive to the next buyer. A lower entry price can help offset some depreciation, especially if you plan to keep the vehicle for several years.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?
