Is the 2020 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Kia Sportage earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its spacious and luxurious interior, and many say it delivers great features for the price. That lines up well with its role as a practical compact SUV for shoppers who want comfort, equipment, and value in a straightforward package. Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with the Sportage earning praise for being a vehicle people can count on over the long term. For used buyers, that suggests the main risk is less about broad owner dissatisfaction and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean maintenance history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you focus on value.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,355 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $17,396 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,962 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the Sportage has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and planning to sell later. If prices stabilise, future resale losses may be more gradual than they were over the past year. Strong current demand also matters, and the model’s owner satisfaction should help keep it relevant with used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Sportage makes the most sense if you want the refreshed features, strong owner approval, and a used price that has already come down meaningfully. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2020 is the better all-round pick when you want a balanced mix of value, comfort, and market availability.
