How much does the 2016 Kia Sportage cost?

Is the 2016 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — 4.67/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2016 Sportage stands out as a compact SUV that balances everyday practicality with a more engaging driving character than some rivals, and it offers a standard 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with an available 2.0-litre turbocharged option in the top SX trim. Its stiff suspension helps handling feel, while the trade-off is a firmer ride on broken pavement; inside, it is not especially spacious, but it still provides passable room for four average adults and enough versatility for typical daily use.

With 25.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2016 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Sportage’s appeal comes from its practical everyday usability, available turbocharged power, and distinctive styling rather than from any standout luxury or space advantage. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a firmer suspension and limited cargo room may make it less satisfying if you want maximum comfort or utility over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 152 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,473 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $11,613 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,511 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially well kept. At the same time, the softer pricing may help this model stay attractive to shoppers looking for value, which can support demand. If you buy carefully now, you may be entering at a more favourable point in the cycle than a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact SUV with a distinctive look, decent everyday usability, and a market that has softened enough to create some negotiating room, the 2016 Sportage is worth a close look. If your priority is finding the lowest possible entry price, you may want to compare it with nearby model years and focus on the best-priced listings first.
