Is the 2017 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its luxurious feel, smooth and quiet ride, spacious interior, useful features like heated seats and a moonroof, and good handling. For you, that makes it a sensible compact SUV if you want everyday usability, comfort, and value rather than outright performance. With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with comments about a smooth, quiet ride and a comfortable, well-equipped cabin. Some owners did raise concerns about reliability based on their experience, so it is worth checking service records and the vehicle’s maintenance history before you buy.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about making sure the specific example you choose has been cared for properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Hyundai Tucson?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 522 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,608 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $13,609 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,602 CAD.

That kind of price movement suggests the Tucson has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, the lower entry cost can help offset some depreciation risk later. The model’s broad appeal and practical feature set should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a comfortable compact SUV with strong everyday usability.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Tucson is the better choice if you want a well-liked compact SUV with strong value, a comfortable cabin, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, you could also compare nearby years to see whether a similar example offers a lower asking price or better equipment for the money.
