Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The owner feedback highlights comfort, a smooth ride, and a good mix of features, and many drivers also say it feels more upscale than they expected. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a compact SUV with Jeep styling, everyday usability, and available all-weather traction. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that many people find dependable and trouble-free in day-to-day use, especially when they value comfort and features over a more rugged driving feel. At the same time, some owners report breakdowns and repairs, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and overall condition. For long-term ownership, that means the safest path is a well-maintained example with clear records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed, but the better listings may still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 305 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,313 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $13,317 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,970 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Cherokee more approachable for you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should stay realistic unless the vehicle is especially clean, well equipped, and well documented. If you buy at the right price and keep maintenance records, you can help protect your position when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2017 is the year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2017’s stronger market position and owner feedback.
