The current average of $13,594 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,431 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a plus if you’re buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. If you plan to resell later, the current trend suggests you should focus on condition, maintenance records, and trim appeal to help protect value. Well-priced examples should still attract attention, especially when they’re presented cleanly and backed by good history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible pick if you want a well-liked SUV with a softer used-market price and decent deal availability. If you’re mainly focused on stretching your budget, you may also want to compare nearby years and choose the one with the best combination of price and condition rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
