Is the 2017 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Honda Pilot earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and tech features, while also appreciating the strong AWD capability and comfortable ride. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a practical three-row SUV with family-friendly space and useful technology. With 26.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some attractive market value to be found.

Is the 2017 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, with many drivers describing the Pilot as dependable and a vehicle they can count on over time. That said, some owners mention transmission performance concerns, so you should pay close attention to service history and how the transmission behaves on a test drive. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but a careful inspection is still important.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 205 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,220 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $20,243 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,800 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the softer current pricing means your future resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance records. Well-kept examples should still appeal to family buyers looking for space and practicality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Pilot is a strong pick if you want a roomy, well-liked three-row SUV and you value current pricing that has eased from last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower entry price outweighs the 2017’s stronger market position and owner satisfaction.

How does the 2017 Honda Pilot compare to the 2017 Toyota Highlander?

The Pilot gives you more power, a lower average used price, and more listings to choose from, while the Highlander shows a slightly higher share of good and great deals. If you want stronger value and broader inventory, the Pilot has the edge; if you are comparing only deal share, the Highlander is close.
