Why it stands out
The 2017 Honda CR-V stands out as a compact crossover that blends practicality, efficiency, and everyday usability in a way that has long defined the model. For this generation, Honda gave it bold styling, increased dimensions for extra rear legroom and cargo space, and chassis revisions aimed at improving ride, handling, and braking performance. It also introduced a hands-free power tailgate, adding a useful convenience feature to a vehicle already known for being easy to live with.
Canadian 2017 CR-V models came standard with a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine making 190 horsepower, along with an estimated 7.2 L/100 km in highway driving with AWD. AWD capability was optional on the base LX trim and standard on the rest of the Canadian line-up. Honda also broadened the availability of its Honda Sensing safety technologies, and the CR-V added a simple physical volume knob to make the touchscreen audio system easier to use. Those strengths help explain why the CR-V has such a strong reputation for reliability, safety, and economy.
There are trade-offs, though. The 2017 CR-V is not especially engaging to drive, and it is not the most distinctive in terms of style. It also tends to have more problems than other CR-V years in this generation, with issues often centred on electrical and engine concerns as well as HVAC systems. Even so, it remains appealing for buyers who want a roomy, well-equipped, and efficient used crossover with a strong safety story.

We like it so far, but have only had it for a day. The manual is clear so it is easy to find out the things that are different from the old car. Drives smoothly, power available for hill or passing. It is very comfortable.

Quiet ride, good visibility, excellent breaking and tight handling. Also, the car is not under powered; I do not worry about pulling out into traffic.
