Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a truck that many owners feel good about living with. Owners commonly praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and they also value the range of features and overall value. That fits well if you want a full-size pickup that can handle daily driving, towing, and commuting with a more polished feel than many rivals. With 26.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many drivers consider dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with praise for its overall durability and long-term appeal. At the same time, some owners noted reliability issues with certain engines, so you should pay close attention to service history and how the truck has been maintained. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example rather than the model being a bad bet across the board.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 417 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,570 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $22,631 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,953 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at the right price, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who buys at the top of the range. The Sierra's premium positioning and broad appeal help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on trim, condition, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want a full-size pickup with a more premium feel and you can find one priced competitively. If you're especially price-sensitive, it can also make sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained truck rather than the newest badge.
