Is the 2017 Dodge Journey a good car?

Generally — the 2017 Dodge Journey earns a 4.2/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. At the same time, owner feedback points to reliability concerns, including mechanical issues with the transmission and front end. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk looks higher than average if maintenance history is incomplete.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Dodge Journey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully and wait for the right price.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 223 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,898 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Dodge Journey's resale value?

The current average of $10,898 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,153 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale a bit more challenging if values continue to soften. If you buy now, your best protection against depreciation is choosing a well-kept example with strong documentation and avoiding overpaying. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 makes sense if you want a lower-priced Journey and value the current market softness. If you are price-sensitive, this year is worth a close look because inventory is available and deal share is decent. If reliability is your top priority, you should be especially selective and focus on maintenance history and inspection quality.
