Used 2016 Honda Civic for Sale nearOshawa, ON

How much does the 2016 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 8.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 431 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — 4.86/5. The expert rating is 8/10, and the model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, reliability, and impressive fuel economy, while also liking its stylish design and high safety ratings. That lines up well with the Civic’s role as a practical compact car that aims to feel more polished and desirable than before.

With its refined everyday usability and broad appeal, it suits you well if you want efficiency without giving up an enjoyable driving experience. The market also shows 26.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers repeatedly describe it as reliable, and the owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience. The expert summary reinforces that theme by highlighting thrift and dependability in a small, fun-to-drive package.

Honda’s safety and convenience features also support confidence in day-to-day use, especially if you value a car you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core reliability and more about finding one that has been maintained properly and not worn down by heavy use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base DX is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more polish, equipment, and convenience. The Touring trim stands out for its chrome exterior details, polished two-tone 17-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, and more upscale cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque on the lower trims, while EX-T and Touring use a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft. The turbo engine delivers strong low-end torque and smoother, more relaxed highway driving.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every sedan trim but the base DX, so that trim misses out on this suite.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen system is quick, and it includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, HD Radio, SiriusXM, and Garmin navigation. The Touring version also gets a customisable digital instrument panel.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the 1.5-litre turbo and CVT at 6.7 L/100 km combined. The 2.0-litre gets 6.9 L/100 km combined with the CVT and 7.5 L/100 km combined with the manual.

Which 2016 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, EX-T, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the entry point, but it is also the only sedan trim without Honda Sensing, so you give up the full safety package here.
• LX: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Civic’s core strengths without stretching too far up the range. It keeps the Civic’s practical appeal and can be a smart buy if you want the lower-cost route into the model.
• EX: This trim adds more equipment and sits in the middle of the range, making it a sensible step up if you want more comfort and convenience without jumping to turbo power.
• EX-T: This is the first trim with the 1.5-litre turbo engine, so it is the one to choose if you want stronger performance and better overall refinement.
• Touring: This is the most upscale version, with the richest feature set, the most premium look, and the most polished feel. It suits you best if you want the Civic at its most fully equipped.

Honda Sensing is available on every sedan trim but the base DX, so that is the key safety-package note to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 431 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,267 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $14,267 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,597 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy well now and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell.

The Civic’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because shoppers continue to value its efficiency, refinement, and reputation for reliability. A model with strong owner satisfaction can hold attention better over time, even when the market cools.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic safe?

The 2016 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for frontal crash, side crash, and rollover risk, and the Civic sedan and coupe were named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every sedan trim but the base DX, so the least expensive version misses out on that full suite.

The rearview camera also offers three views, including a top view and an extra-wide shot. One caveat is that the safety systems are helpful, but they still require your attention and should not be trusted blindly.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 brought a completely new design that improved style, refinement, and build quality.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,611 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,267 CAD average.
• It is a straightforward, well-rounded compact car that is easy to recommend.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished, better-equipped Civic with stronger style and a newer design, the 2016 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you are happy with a simpler, more basic compact car, the 2015 is the value-focused alternative.
