How much does the 2016 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 6.94% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 427 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Ford F-150 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, power, smooth ride, and spacious interior, while the overview points to a pickup that leans into luxury without losing its truck identity. That makes it especially appealing if you want a premium-feeling cabin in a full-size light-duty pickup. With 24.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. User feedback points to a truck that many owners find dependable, with praise centred on comfort, power, and features that make it easy to live with over time. The expert assessment also describes the F-150 as better than average for reliability, which supports the case for confident ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is age-related wear, so a careful inspection matters, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim is positioned as the luxury-focused version, with 22-inch wheels, satin-finish accents, Mojave leather, eucalyptus wood, and other upscale touches. Lower trims are more work-focused, so you should compare cabin materials and convenience equipment carefully if you want the premium feel.
• Powertrain: The standard twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 delivers 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, and it is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It is described as strong and responsive, with plenty of passing power and confident highway merging.
• Safety package: Ford offers adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a lane-keeping system. Some of these features are available rather than standard, so you should confirm equipment on the specific truck you are considering.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touchscreen with swipe capability, improved voice recognition, Siri compatibility, and Wi-Fi software updates. A rear-view camera is standard, while navigation is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The test truck returned 14.0 L/100 km on the test loop, and there are no official fuel economy figures for this configuration from Natural Resources Canada.

Which 2016 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry cost and do not need luxury features.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more everyday comfort and convenience without pushing into high-end pricing.
• Lariat: This trim suits you if you want a more upscale cabin and more equipment while staying below the premium-focused upper trims.
• King Ranch: Choose this if you want a more distinctive, upscale truck with a stronger luxury lean.
• Platinum: This is for buyers who want a high-end feel and more premium appointments without going all the way to the top.
• Limited: This is the most luxurious version, with the richest materials and the most attention to style and refinement.

The Limited trim is the one most clearly framed as the luxury standout, while the lower trims are better if you want to keep costs in check.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford F-150?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 427 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,446 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $21,383 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,978 CAD. That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. On the other hand, the truck’s strong feature set and premium appeal help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition. If you buy carefully and keep the truck maintained, you should still have a solid path to resale value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 safe?

The Ford F-150 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating. It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford includes 911 Assist through Sync, which can automatically contact emergency responders after an airbag deployment if a paired device is in the vehicle. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system that can alert you to unintended lane departure and help prevent it. The lane-keeping and forward-collision systems can also produce false warnings in some situations, so you should test them during a drive if they matter to you.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 model year adds Sync 3, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and a luxury-leaning Limited trim that makes the truck feel especially upscale.

The bottom line: The 2016 Ford F-150 is a strong pick if you want a used full-size pickup that blends luxury, capability, and broad market availability. If you are price-sensitive, you may want to focus on lower trims or shop aggressively for a truck near the bottom of the current price range.
