I own a 2016 Dodge Journey and just the other day the drivers head rest popped out . I was changing my seat cover for the head rest when this happened. I tried to put it back in place but there aren’t any clips to fix it so I figure it’s a defect. I’ve read a lot of complaints about this happening. This needs to be placed on the recall list. I have also had trouble with my transmission, which I have also heard bad news about. Hopefully Dodge will figure out and fix these problems.

We had a 2010 Journey RT and were very satisfied with it so we were looking for something similar. This 2016 Journey RT has not disappointed. The motor has a nice amount of power, seats very comfortable and the bells and whistles it came with are great too. My only wish is that the mileage was a little better but all in all we are very happy with our purchase.

Great vehicle. 2nd one we have owned. 1st one was 4cylinder. 2nd one v6. The v6 is the better way to go. No complaints.

How much does the 2016 Dodge Journey cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,568 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $9,351 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $11,234 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $11,152 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −14.21% |

There are 256 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey a good car?
The 2016 Dodge Journey is a mixed-value choice, but it can make sense if you prioritise comfort and straightforward driving feel over a long feature list. The user rating is 3.75/5, and owners commonly praise the comfortable seating, the more enjoyable V6 power delivery, and the smooth steering and driving experience. At the same time, some shoppers note transmission concerns and weaker media and convenience features. With 21.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Dodge Journey reliable?
Owner feedback points to some reliability concerns, especially around transmission problems and functionality issues with components such as climate control. That said, the same owner summary also highlights a comfortable, smooth-driving experience that many drivers appreciate. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that repair-prone systems could add cost and inconvenience over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Journey?
This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can afford to be selective and focus on condition, service history, and price.
- Deal availability: 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 256 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.21% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $9,351 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Dodge Journey's resale value?
The current average of $9,568 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,152 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may remain under pressure unless demand strengthens. If you plan to own it for several years, buying well now matters more than expecting strong appreciation later.
Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Journey or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.21% compared with last year.
The bottom line: The 2016 is worth considering if you want a lower-priced Journey and can find one with strong maintenance records and a clean inspection. If you are especially price-sensitive, compare nearby years as well, but the 2016 stands out as a practical starting point when you want more negotiating room and a decent amount of inventory.
